Our very close and beloved Honorary Secretary of the Indian Ceramic Society, Dr Sitendu Mandal has been conferred the PhD degree, during the 14th Convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur by Professor (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur on 9th November 2024 at 11.00 am.
Dr Mandal is Chief Scientist and Head, Specialty Glass Division (SGD), CSIR-CGCRI, Kolkata and life member of the Society from East zone.

Dr Sanjay Kumar, Chief Scientist and Head, Metal Extraction & Recycling Division, CSIR- National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), India and Professor, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) and Life member, InCerS has delivered the Keynote address on 'Mechanical Activation of Secondary resources and waste' in the 18th European conference on Comminution and Classification held at University of Miskolc, Hungary during 24th-26th June, 2024. Dr Sanjay has also received the prestigious Medal by University of Miskolc namely 'Pro Rerum Metallicarum', as a first Indian.

Hearty Congratulations to Dr L.K.Sharma, immediate past President (2021-2022) of The Indian Ceramic Society (InCerS) and CEO-Mahamana Ceramic Development Organization, New Delhi, India on his selection as Fellow of The American Ceramic Society (ACerS). He is elected by a panel of Fellows constituting 12 representatives from different divisions of the ACerS. Professor Bikramjit Basu, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was chairing this panel for 2024. Dr L.K.Sharma is the 5th elected Fellow of The American Ceramic Society from India. In the past history of ACerS almost for 135 years, elected Fellows from India are Dr G. Sundararajan from ARCI, Hyderabad, Professor KT Jacob, Professor Vikram Jayaram and Professor Bikramjit Basu all from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Mr Sudip Bose has received the Prestigious Marie Sklodowska Curie Action Doctoral Award which will enable him to research on an interdisciplinary topic of Carbon Fibre Composites Technology and Machine Learning culminating into a PhD from the University of Manchester in approx. 3 years time starting October 2023. He is one of the 14 positions world-wide to convert this opportunity. It will be an enriching experience for him that he will be guided by legends of the field e.g., Prof Philip Withers, who was awarded 'The Regius Professor of Materials' by her excellency the queen of the UK. Despite the change in location, he will continue to discharge his role as the Associate Editor of the 'Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society'.

This is a proud moment for the Indian Ceramic Society to inform that Mr Sitendu Mandal, Honorary Secretary of InCerS has received the Dr. Meghnad Saha Memorial Award on the occasion of 130th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Dr. Meghnad Saha held on October 06, 2023 at Shri Shikshayatan College, Kolkata.

Mr Mandal was invited to deliver the Dr. Meghnad Saha Memorial Lecture on the topic, 'Tribute to Dr. Meghnad Saha : A Trailblazer to CSIR-CGCRI' in this award ceremony program.

Prof. Saikat Maitra, Professor at Government College of Engineering & Ceramic Technology, Kolkata and Former Vice Chancellor of MAKAUT graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Dr Subhabrata Roychaudhuri, Secretary of The Science Association of Bengal, a noted academician and Science communicator was also present in this event.
